Hotels in Volusia County faced mixed results in November, according to a report released Tuesday, with increases in occupancy and revenue but a drop in rates in 2010 from 2009.

The average daily rate in November was $87.46, down $1.32 from November 2009, according to a report from the Hotel and Lodging Association of Volusia. Occupancy was up to 43 percent from 40 percent in November 2009, and the revenue per available room increased by $2.14.

Those figures come in the aftermath of lukewarm countywide bed tax collections for November, which were down 3.3 percent down from 2009.

Hotel and Lodging Association CEO Bob Davis said the bed tax numbers had been skewed by closed hotels and others under renovation, as well as possible delinquent payments. "It's not a true, accurate measurement."
