O.C. hotel rooms filling up

Posted: 25 Apr 2010 11:14 AM PDT

The lodging experts at PKF report that Orange County hotels in February saw 35% of their rooms went empty — a mild improvement over 36% vacancy a year earlier. After 2009 — where hotel occupancy fell 7% — any uptick in tourism business is cheery news!

Also …

  • You can bet discounting helped fill rooms. Countywide, room rates are down 9% in a year (that's $12.92 a night.)
  • All told, countywide "Revpar" — a key hotel cash-flow measure tracking rates and occupancy — was -7% for the month vs. a year ago.
  • By region, 0 of the 7 slices of the county PKF tracks had year-over-year room rate gains; 5 of the 7 slices had occupancy gains; and 2 of the 7 has "RevPar" increases.
  • Note: Chart at right shows the month's average room rate; year's change in rates; occupancy (occ.) and year's change; plus the year's change in "revpar" (Rev. ch.)

The Lodge of Four Seasons is "Certified Green"

    Posted: 25 Apr 2010 09:11 AM PDT

The Missouri Hotel and Lodging Association (MH&LA) recently announce that The Lodge of Four Seasons is "certified green." MH&LA only certifies hotels that are doing everything they can to be more environmentallly sustainable.

Lake Ozark, MO (PRWEB) April 25, 2010 -- The Lodge of Four Seasons was recently deemed "certified green" by the Missouri Hotel & Lodging Association (MH&LA). The association certifies only those properties which do all they can to be more environmentally sustainable in the community.

MH&LA has created an extensive workbook which lists specific initiatives that a hotel must complete in order to become certified as a green property.

"The Lodge has always sought to contribute to and preserve our community," states Mark Brown, Lodge of Four Seasons president.

"Over the years, we have made a conscious effort to seek out more sustainable practices in how we do laundry and the types of cleaners we use on a daily basis."

Brown says that cleaners and laundry are just a small portion of the ongoing efforts made by The Lodge, which is dedicated to preserving the environment for generations of guests to come.

About The Lodge of Four Seasons: The Lodge was built in 1964 by Harold Koplar and has been owned and managed by the Koplar-Brown family ever since. The owners remain proud residents of the Lake area, and their level of pride and commitment is obvious to every guest. This dedication to quality goes far beyond what one would typically encounter at resorts owned by a remote corporate entity.

    1. You're 18 years old and rich? How did you do it? Did it have something to do with orange county hotels? That seems like the most logical explanation.
