Boomerang Hotels relaunches Shoney's Inn brand

The master brand and parent company Boomerang Hotels announced the relaunch of Shoney's Inn and Shoney's Inn & Suites.

"Shoney's Inn is an iconic US brand and we are very pleased to have finally prevailed in a long running lawsuit to bring this great name back to the economy lodging sector." said Brendan Watters, CEO of Boomerang Hotels. "Boomerang Hotels is proud to reintroduce Shoney's Inn, especially during this challenging time for the lodging industry. With its strong name recognition, the Shoney's Inn brand will certainly help our franchisees gain their fair share of the market."

Shoney's Inn and Shoney's Inn & Suites are well-known brands, and will provide experienced owners with a presence in the economy sector. The Shoney's Inn franchisees will benefit from the same franchising agreements as the Boomerang Hotels brands of Settle Inn & Suites and GuestHouse International.

Shoney's Inn franchisees will benefit from a new expanded website currently under development, integrated reservation services, classroom and on-site training, the Boomerang Returns guest loyalty rewards program and operational support.

Terry Kline, SVP of Franchise Sales & Development for the company, said, "It is our full expectation to return Shoney's Inn to the industry prominence it once enjoyed. We look forward to having it complement our mid-market Settle Inn and GuestHouse International brands."

Currently, Boomerang Hotels operates over 6,500 rooms in the U.S. with two GuestHouse International properties in China.

Lodging Assitance For Cancer Patients

Posted: 05 Jan 2011 09:13 AM PST

As costs rise for patients battling cancer, the American Cancer Society is hoping to help ease the burden of those battling the disease by offering free lodging for patients traveling more than 50 miles one way to and from their lifesaving cancer treatments.

The ACS guestroom program utilizes rooms from local hotels who generously donate lodging specifically for those in active cancer treatment. In Omaha, 15 area hotels are participating in the program including Best Western Seville Plaza, Candlewood Suites, Crown Plaza Hotel, Doubletree & EMC, Hampton Inn-Westroads Mall, Holiday Inn Convention Center & CoCo Key Water Resort, Holiday Inn-Downtown, Hilton Garden Inn-Downtown, Hilton Garden Inn-West, Hilton Omaha, Magnolia Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott-Aksarben Village, Premiere Suites of Omaha, Residence Inn and Studio Plus Omaha.

Traveling hours to treatment sometimes leaves cancer patients with few options for completing their treatment schedules. Many patients need daily or weekly treatments over a period of months and simply have no way to get there. Although family and friends may be able to help, there are many times when they're not available.

The guestroom program provides options for patients in this situation who are in need of treatment in Omaha.
