Analyst lifts Orient-Express rating, price target

NEW YORK (AP) -- The increasing return of travelers to luxury hotels should bode well for Orient-Express Hotels Ltd., an analyst said Tuesday as he upgraded the lodging company and raised its price target.

Orient-Express' stock gained 63 cents, or 4.8 percent, to $13.63 in afternoon trading.

While people pulled back on vacation plans during the recession, the improving economy has led many to begin booking trips again -- and the luxury hotel sector has seen better signs of improvement than other areas of the industry so far.

Joseph Greff of JPMorgan said in a client note that Orient-Express' luxury segment will help it this year, with its exposure to the sector growing about 10 percent.

The analyst also likes the Bermuda-based company's improved balance sheet.

Greff lifted Orient-Express' rating to "Overweight" from "Neutral" and increased its price target to $17 from $11.
